Finding the right local drywall contractor

There are many reasons why you should be concerned with finding the right local drywall installation contractor. Drywall provides one of the the finishing touch with any project, remodel or new home construction. Drywall installation and finishing is a talent and not everyone will have the same skill set. You don’t want to have to worry about the little details of the job, let your drywall contractor worry about the size of the sheet-rock, thickness, how to cut it properly etc. as long as you are comfortable with your contractor that they will provide you with your desired finished product your contractor should be able to do the rest.
Just as if you were hiring out any other contractor services you want to make sure you check their reputation and do not feel bad asking for references. You want to make sure you are hiring out someone you can trust. So make sure you create a check list and ask your contractor specific questions such as:

  • How long do you estimate the job to take?
  • Are you willing to sign a contract?
  • Will you provide me with a list of references of jobs you have done in the last 6 months?
  • Do you carry insurance?

These questions and other questions you could think of to ask will help provide you with all the information you should need to ensure hiring the right contractor for your job.

Be very, very careful of the mold, lcpesialey if it is black mold. Our old house had a constant black mold problem and, after doing some research, it turns out that it’s highly toxic and can cause all sorts of respiratory problems both temporary and long-term. Essentially, it releases some severe toxins into the air and can poison you slowly over time. I can’t tell you how much our lungs and heads have cleared up since moving to our new (mold-free) house. They recommend that if it’s any extent at all that you have a certified professional check it out. I’m not the sort to have someone “professional” check out stuff in my home (because I’m a DIYer through and through) but when it comes to that one, I can believe it. Thankfully we could move out before it was a big issue (we were planning the move anyway, so in the meantime we sprayed a LOT of bleach and kept the fans on).Good luck!
